The Duke Blue Devils, led by longtime college football coach David Cutcliffe, defeated the Rod Carey led Northern Illinois Huskies 36-14 to win the 2017 Quick Lane Bowl. Though the game was tied 14-14 with minutes left in the first half, the Blue Devils ultimately dominated, heading into halftime with a 26-14 lead and running with it. Duke’s QB Daniel Jones ended the game with 252 yards passing, 86 yards rushing, two passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown and the MVP title.
The Quick Lane Bowl traditionally features teams from the Big Ten and ACC. At the end of the college football season, officials from both conferences meet with bowl officials to determine the best possible matchup and choose their team representatives.
